Here’s a treat: a full three-week retreat’s worth of Dharma-talks on the topic of Samantabhadra, via Tarchin Hearn. A friend who recently returned from this retreat—which was held in New Zealand—sent me a link. I’ve been enjoying them greatly, so thought I’d share the wealth, so to speak.
In Dzogchen, Samantabhadra is a representation of our true nature, the Primordial Buddha: the innate wisdom present in all sentient beings. Longchenpa’s The Precious Treasury of the Basic Space of Phenomena opens with the following homage to our true nature nature thus symbolized:
Homage to glorious Samantabhadra!
Naturally occurring timeless awareness—utterly lucid awakened mind—
is something marvelous and superb, primordially and spontaneously present.
It is the treasury from which comes the universe of appearances and possibilities, whether of samsara or nirvana.
Homage to that unwavering state, free of elaboration.
